Kate Smith was unaware she was expecting triplets until after her return from the family holiday

A mum has given birth to triplets after feeling
sick while on Disneyland rides.

Kate Smith, 34, from Liverpool, was on a
family holiday last April when she gave birth to
the twins .
She first thought her nausea was due to the
number of trips she took on different
rollercoasters at the amusement park in
Orlando, Florida, US.
Up to that point Kate was unaware of her
pregnancy, but as the morning sickness
persisted even after she returned home she
decided to take a test.
Kate felt completely different compared to her
previous pregnancies with Louie, 10, and Tia,
two – she was exhausted, suffered
excruciating headaches and her entire body
ached.

Stunned midwives discovered she was in fact
pregnant with triplets, which explained why
Kate felt so unwell.
"So I booked an early scan at eight weeks and
we got the biggest shock of our lives, there
was four babies in there.
"Both myself and Gerard started laughing at
first but then the reality set in and I started
crying."

"We were both self-employed and we had no
idea how we would cope, then at our 12 week
scan we were told one baby had died,
something nurses explained was fairly
common," she continued.
"And from that moment we realised how
precious they were, we were devastated to
have lost one and now we were having triplets
there was nothing we wanted more than them
all to survive.
"My stomach grew three times as fast and I
looked eight months pregnant when I was only
five months gone."

"Dolly needed a small operation on her
abdomen as she had a small cyst but apart
from that everything went so well," she said.
"Me and Gerard have coped and I hope other
couples who find themselves having more than
one baby at once read our story and realise
they'll be fine.
"We feel so lucky to have triplets that are not
only healthy but so well behaved as well."
