PDP Ex-minister leaks how they sell out poll by bribe

A former minister of finance under the Goodluck
Jonathan administration
, Bashir Yuguda has told
the EFCC how some officials of Zamfara state,
including former Governor Mamuda Shinkafi
allegedly shared N450 million naira being the
state’s portion of the $115 million allegedly
doled out during the build up to the 2015
general elections.
The anti-graft agency has on the strength of the
confession arrested the former governor, as well
as a former Secretary to the Government of
Zamfara State, Aminu Nahuce; and Senator
Hassan Nasiha, the chairman of the Peoples
Democratic Party in Zamfara State.
The money was alleged to be part of funds
doled out through Fidelity Bank by the former
minister of petroleum resources, Mrs. Diezani
Alison-Madueke.
However, Shinkafi who was said to have got
N15m form the funds has denied taking part in
the sharing, stating that he heard about it but
did not take out of it.

Sources within the EFCC revealed that the
former SSG admitted that he got N2 million as
against the N5 million claimed by Yuguda and
told the EFCC that he had since refunded the
cash.
Shinkafi and Nahuce were still being detained at
the EFCC Kaduna office as at Saturday night
and it was unclear as at the time of this report
if they would gain their freedom this weekend.
The EFCC source said that Yuguda had told
investigators that he collected the Zamfara
share of the money allegedly to be use in
bribing poll officials, and that it was shared in
his house.
Thirteen local government council in the state
were also said to have N26 million each totaling
N338 million.
