In March, the former WWE Hall of Famer won
his lawsuit against the magazine
after they
published an except of an intimate video that
he argued was a violation of his privacy.
According to the Hollywood Reporter , on
Wednesday Florida Circuit Judge Pamela
Campbell decided not to order a new trial and
upheld the multi million dollar verdict, despite
the publication's appeal.
A jury has ruled that the privacy of the
wrestling star - whose real name is Terry
Bollea - outweighs Gawker's claims that the
First Amendment gives them the right to
decide what is newsworthy.
This week, the publication's attorney Seth
Berlin compared the damages to those
against tobacco companies over smoking
death's.
However, Bollea's attorney Shane Vogt argued:
"For the first time, the jury has put a value on
privacy. This is not like the tobacco cases.
