Ted Cruz suspended his campaign as Donald Trump win India Republican

Donald Trump has been given a clear run to
the Republican nomination
for President after
his biggest opponent Ted Cruz suspended his
campaign.
Following a crushing defeat in the Indiana
Primary tonight the Texas Senator said he was
stepping down leaving the path clear for the
billionaire to take on the Democrats.
His only rival, Ohio Governor John Kasich,
languished in third place with little hope of
stopping the property mogul.
With more than a third of the vote counted,
Trump was leading Cruz with 54 percent to 36
percent, with Kasich trailing with a meagre
eight per cent.

Within an hour of accepting the defeat Cruz
addressed his supporters to announce he was
suspending his campaign.
He thanked his family before telling the crowd
they were "incredible patriots who have fought
so hard to save our nation.”to

His decision to step down came as a shocking
blow to a GOP establishment that hoped to
prevent Trump from winning the nomination.
The billionaire’s victory in Indiana put him
within about 200 delegates of what he needs
to clinch the nomination.
He immediately hit the 1,000 delegate
threshold by winning the state overall.

Before his victory he said: “The sooner we
unite this party, the sooner we bring everyone
together, the better chance we have of
beating Hillary Clinton and her machine in
November.”
Trump's win make it looks increasingly likely
he will face Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in
November's general election.
