A pilot reportedly held a bag of the remains of the bird

Passengers heard a "loud thud" as a bird reportedly flew through the engine of their plane during take off.

Flight TOM6248, which was bound for Tenerife from Bournemouth, struck a seagull shortly after taking off at 08.21 today.
A man travelling on the Thomson flight, which was diverted to London Gatwick, posted photos online of the pilot holding "remains of a seagull in a plastic bag" on board.
